Lottery Games With The Best Odds and How to Beat Them

which lottery game has the best odds

Most of the people are just concerned about the odds of winning the lottery at an individual level. However, if you want to really win the lottery, you have to 1st find at the odds of someone winning the jackpot.

Normally, when the odds of someone winning the jackpot in each and every draw are minuscule, the odds of your winning are even far-fetched. This is the reason why you have to look into both of these odds and thereafter calculate how you can beat them.

We will also highlight some examples of best lotteries and games with best odds.

Hopefully, in the process, you will be able to get the answer to the question, “how do I win the lottery?”.

Odds of someone winning the jackpot

These odds refer to the fact whether the jackpot is won on an average by someone in each and every draw or not.

You will be surprised to know that the jackpots in most of the popular lotteries are not won in each and every draw. This drastically reduces your odds of winning the lottery.

lottery probability patternAlso, generally speaking, the smaller the size of the jackpot, the better is the average of it being won in an each and every single draw.

That is why, when you see that the Powerball jackpot is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, you can assume that it will not be won in each and every draw.

The average draws which it takes for players to win the jackpot in some of the lotteries are highlighted on our list.

  • US Powerball: 10.6 draws
  • Mega Millions: 13.25 draws
  • Swiss Lotto: 26.50 draws
  • New Jersey-Cash 5: 3.14
  • Australia-Saturday Lotto: 1.23

Ideally, if you want to improve your chances of winning, it is important to play the lottery games which have the lowest number of draws required to win the jackpot.

Once you are able to do that, it will become easier for you to concentrate on your individual odds thereafter rather than looking at the odds of the jackpot.

Odds of winning the jackpot

Now that you have selected the game which provides you with the best odds when it comes to the number of games to win the jackpot, you have to look at your individual odds.

The individual odds highlight the probability of your winning should you continue to play the lottery over a long period of time.

These odds do not take into account the use of any kind of mathematical formula or probability for selecting the numbers.

They are the odds which a normal person will have when he or she chooses the numbers randomly.

  • US Powerball: 1:292,201,338
  • Mega millions: 1:302,575,350
  • Australian Powerball: 1:76,767,600
  • UK Lotto: 1:45,057,474

buying more random tickets gives you the same garbage oddsThese are your individualized odds of winning the jackpot.

The problem is that if it takes multiple draws for anyone to win the jackpot in the Lotto when you take into account your individual probability of winning, the probability is simply pretty far-fetched.

This is the reason why you have to 1st select the lottery according to the lowest number of draws required in order to win the jackpot and thereafter, you have to work on improving your individualized odds of winning the lottery.

Once you are able to do that, it will become easier for you to select the right lottery games.

Even when you take into account some of the experiences of the past amazing lottery winners, they will also advise you to go according to probability. Once you have the probability sorted, now is the time to think about how to spend your lottery winnings.

  1. I try to play scratch cards with the best odds. By buying about 10 from the same game and on the same roll I have a really good chance of winning.

    1. That’s a really good strategy Grendal and works well on scratchers. If you play a game that has a 1 in 5 chance of being a winner then buying 10 tickets means you have a high probability of having at least 2 winning tickets when you buy those 10 tickets at the same time, from the same place all playing exactly the same game (i.e. from the same scratch off roll).
